Steven Hightower
One of our youngest warriors, Steven Hightower is a 27 year old teachers assistant from New Jersey. Having undergone chemotherapy, he continues to pour life into and encourage everyone around him. Steven displays immense strength as he refuses to let this health journey dampen his spirit.
Kenya Eason
Kenya’s journey began in February 2020 when she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. After months of chemotherapy and two stem cell transplants, the multiple myeloma returned and she was also diagnosed with Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia (CMML). Five years later, following a donor cell transplant from her own son, Kenya is cancer-free. She now pays it forward as a volunteer, preparing meals for families who have children fighting cancer.
Diane Sondy
Retired clinical psychologist Diane Sondy is a colon and uterine cancer survivor. Serving as a true advocate, she plays a leading role in many non-profit charitable organizations throughout Hudson County advocating for cancer prevention awareness and other healthcare issues and projects. Her hard work and dedication has earned her many awards and honors throughout the years as a community partner and key contributor to her community.
Yvonne Thevenot
Yvonne Thevenot is a breast cancer survivor, mother, and educator whose journey reflects grit, faith, and power of purpose. She is the founder and executive director of STEM Kids NYC, where she works to expand access to STEM education for children in underserved communities. Her story of navigating cancer while continuing to pursue meaningful work and serve others makes her a powerful example of strength and perseverance.
Ashley Brooks
After being diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Cancer, Ashley began a journey that has required strength, courage, and resilience. Through treatment, she has continued to work and keep her head held high, ensuring she lives life to the fullest despite uncertainty. She refuses to let her diagnosis define her or slow her pace, proving that her spirit is far stronger than any obstacle. Her unwavering dedication to encouraging others to embrace their strength and beauty despite these health challenges is a testament to her incredible character.
Sharone Davis Smith
Battling seven cancers at once, Sharone’s journey stands as a testament to the human spirit’s capacity to endure and overcome even the most daunting odds. Faced with this unimaginable challenge, she met her fight with unshakable strength, grace, and unwavering will to live. Today, she serves as a beacon of light and inspires others facing their own battles, embodying hope, courage, and the true meaning of a warrior.
